    edTPA assessment materials for use during the 2020-2021 program year are now available for preview in the Resource Library for faculty. Updates to the assessment materials incorporate items from the January  items only, and no other content changes have been made to handbooks or candidate support resources. Faculty may preview the edTPA assessment materials available  in the edTPA Resource Library.

    With many educator preparation programs (EPPs) and P–12 school districts impacted by COVID-19, the following guidance is provided to programs and teacher candidates in need of options for successfully preparing and submitting an edTPA portfolio.

    Pearson will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as events warrant. The following guidance can be found on edTPA.com.

    Virtual Learning Environments

    The edTPA program has a “Virtual Learning Environment” option available to candidates who prepare and provide instruction to students in virtual learning environments. This option is currently accessed through an alternative arrangements process. For more information and to download the request form, please review the information available on the Requesting Alternative Arrangements due to a Virtual Learning Environment page.

    Registration Extension Available to Candidates

    Teacher candidates have 18-months to prepare and submit a finalized portfolio from the date of edTPA registration, for both initial submissions and retakes. To provide additional support to teacher candidates impacted by COVID-19, on April 6, 2020 all registrations will be extended to expire on December 5, 2021. The extension will apply to open registrations (e.g., initial submissions and retakes) without the need for candidates to contact Pearson.

    Two Additional Submission and Reporting Dates Added to the 2019–2020 Submission and Reporting Schedule

    • Submit by June 18, 2020, to receive scores on July 9, 2020
    • Submit by August 20, 2020, to receive scores on September 10, 2020

    Candidates should utilize the current edTPA handbooks available in their portfolio platforms for preparing and submitting portfolios for the remainder of the 2019–2020 submission and reporting schedule. The 2020–2021 edTPA submission and reporting schedule is also available. The schedule provides the submission deadlines with score reporting dates after September 10, 2020.

    Upon edTPA account registration, teacher candidates have 18 months to prepare and submit a finalized portfolio, for both initial submissions and retakes. Programs may encourage candidates to submit their portfolio during a future submission window within the 18 months.
